Tribute To The King

Tribute To The King has been “in the making” for several years as it always felt like something was missing. Smaller yet important pieces that would make it feel complete or that would give it personality and meaning resulted in rewrite after rewrite.

Following the passing away of my biggest influence Edward Van Halen in 2020 the pieces finally came together and I decided that this was going to be my tribute to Eddie: The king of rock guitar! I always did imagine Ed playing the main riff of this song whenever I played it so it made complete sense that this should be dedicated to him. Although the guitar sound is more reminiscent of Boston’s Tom Scholz, the guitar sound was finally right, the ‘missing’ fills were finally ‘found’ and actually had purpose, and the song finally felt completed. The release date even coincides perfectly with Eddie’s birthday on January 26th.

While my playing ability is nothing close to Eddie’s style or ability, this is my attempt to hint at his influence, my dedication to his memory as well as a ‘thank you’ to Eddie for influencing me first and foremost to be myself!
