So ‘this’ just happened …

Thursday night was a regular night like many other nights where Nick and I go out for a beer to our local bar just to hang out and talk shop a little … or ‘music’ anyway. This time around we were joined by another old friend and as Joe (guitarist), Nick (bassist) and I are enjoying a burger and beer, Joe mentions that he’s always wanted to play in a Def Leppard tribute band. The conversation moves on and eventually the evening wraps up and we start heading home when Nick says: “… anyway, if you do ever seriously consider playing in a Def Leppard tribute band … count me in! … AND I’ll even reach out to Lionel (his existing 80’s music rock band drummer)!” Seed planted!

I didn’t think any more of it other than it being confirmation that we have a good friendship between Joe, Nick and myself! In fact, there are 10-11 of us that are old friends (and musicians) that although we’ve all gone our own ways after high school, thanks to social networking we have stayed in touch to this day and try to make a point of seeing one another at least once a year.
Last Thursday night was different though as despite all my efforts to avoid being in cover bands, the conversation stayed with me through the night and I woke up feeling like it was time to make this one happen … even if only to stay in touch.

A couple of days later and countless WhatsApp messages between us: we have two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, a preliminary list of songs to learn, a band name, logo, website, WhatsApp group, Facebook group, and Instagram group! We still need a lead vocalist of course but I’d say that was definitely a very productive weekend!

HYSTORIA is the band name!
